Validity of the visa

Validity term of the Cambodia visa

How long is the Cambodia visa valid for? And how long can a stay last? Make sure you keep the validity term of the visa for Cambodia in mind when planning your trip. This is 90 days from the moment of granting, and a 30 day stay.

Visum Cambodja: Valid for 90 days

The Cambodia visa is valid for 90 days. This doesn't mean that you can stay in the country for 90 days, but that you can enter and leave Cambodia during the validity period of 90 days. The starting date of the validity period is roughly 30 days before the arrival date indicated by you, unless you submit your application less than a month before arrival. Because the Cambodia visa is valid right after approval, processing of the visa appplication takes place 30 days before the date of arrival. While you can submit an application 365 days a year, you will never be informed more than 30 days before departure whether your application has been approved.

Cambodia visa: 30 day stay

Despite the validity length of 90 days, you can only stay in Cambodia for a maximum of 30 days. You are also not permitted to leave the country during this period. The Cambodia visa can therefore only be used a single time to enter the country. On arrival your passport will be stamped. This states the date on which you need to have left Cambodia, which is 30 days after the date of arrival.

Why two different terms?

Some travellers find the restrictions surrounding the validity confusing; is the Cambodia visa valid for 30 or 90 days? The reason that there are two different validity terms is so that you can still adjust your travel plans after acquiring the visa. The visa states exactly what the validity term of 90 days is (start date and end date). You just need to make sure that your actual stay in Cambodia falls within this term, and that you won’t be staying in the country for longer than 30 days. When granting the visa, it will be attempted to make the date of arrival you provide fall on the 30th of the 90 day validity period. This allows you to expedite or postpone the trip for 30 days, without the validity of your visa being violated.

Not just the dates are important for the validity

Above, only the dates of arrival and departure are talked about regarding the validity of the Cambodia visa. Keep in mind that the visa is only valid if you have filled in all information in the application form 100% correctly, and you meet the Cambodia visa requirements. If you don’t meet these, either now or at the moment of arrival or during your stay in Cambodia, then the validity expires, and you can be denied access or evicted from the country. It is therefore important to take in the information on this website, and to carefully get to work on applying for your visa.
